Manufactured in Australia, these won’t be a new product for many, in fact, we were introduced to them by one of our customers (thanks to Kevin in Anglesea). They are small brilliant items of kit that come in various forms to convert data to and from NMEA0183 devices. Top seller is the single port NMEA to wi-fi converter. using this it’s a breeze to send AIS from your plotter to a phone, tablet or PC via wi-fi so that AIS targets can be overlaid onto a chart such as Navionics, C-Map or Open CPN. The ability to convert your data to wi-fi opens up an easy route to communication between other wi-fi capable navigation instruments. The single port device just mentioned and also a two import port and even a bi-direction version to send to and from your plotter gives great scope for wi-fi communication. Beside the three wi-fi devices mentioned there are also SeaTalk to NMEA wi-fi and wired devices for those with Raymarine equipment that needs connecting to NMEA0183 equiment. Finally in the range we have a 3in/3 out multiplexor where any 1 input and be sent to any 1 output with in and out ports separately configurable for baud rate. So much electronics in a package measuring just 550mm x 330mm x 15mm which draws just 50m/a from your battery.
