This is new old stock to clear, 1 only with 12 months parts and labour warranty. Can run off of a standard phone charger via USB.
Use this a 5-inch chart plotter with a built-in chart for the whole of the UK (or any other area on request) It has all the functionality of a standard KP-38 apart from an NMEA data facility (needed to communicate with other devices) which is omitted on this model to reduce power consumption. Or keep it as an emergency plotter in the event of a catastrophic loss of all electronic navigation instruments.
Runs on just 5 volts : only 500 m/a current from a 5 volt supply at maximum brightness. On a 12 volt supply via a small included power supply that outputs a stabilised 5 volts, current draw from the battery is just 200 m/a.
5″ GPS chart plotter with power bank supply capability – this could be your life saver in the event of a lightning strike that leaves you without any GPS/Navigation aids. The plotter can run for 14 hours from a 20,000ma power bank. Add to your kit a solar charger and you have the means to navigate safely from anywhere in the world for as long as it takes. If you use this plotter as an emergency back up in the event of a lightning strike – you should keep it stored in a protective metal box or wrapped in metal foil (*Faraday cage).
A 12/24 volt to 5 volt USB supply is included.
*Faraday Cage – A Faraday cage or Faraday shield is an enclosure used to block electromagnetic fields. A Faraday shield may be formed by a continuous covering of conductive material, or in the case of a Faraday cage, by a mesh of such materials. Faraday cages are named after scientist Michael Faraday, who invented them in 1836.
Power Bank Operation or by connection to a 12 or 24 volt battery via included power supply. Note that this is a low voltage 5 volt device so can only be connected to higher than 5 volts via the included stabilised power supply. The power unit can operate at 12 or 24 volts.
